Carbon hunters: reflections and forecasts of climate markets in the 21st century
Sandor, Richard L; Diperna, Paula
World Scientific
, 2025
; English
; 259 Pages
The book is a unique overview of the launching of carbon markets worldwide, and the evolution of those markets as critical tools to manage climate change and other environmental problems.
The book also presents uniquely personal narratives of the authors, who have each led unconventional and exciting professional lives, meeting by coincidence, and then working together on the largest environmental and economic problems of our times — addressing climate change with flexibility and maximum potential.
Given the unique backgrounds of the authors as pioneers in their respective domains, the book is likely to have no comparable or 'competitive' books.
Carbon Hunters also situates the evolution of carbon markets as a journey of invention, imagination and creativity, bringing to life in real-world terms the academic and intellectual underpinnings of an exceptional and rewarding journey — inventing and activating new markets to save our planetary home.
Finally, the book offers catalytic 'Food for Thought' and Forecasts on how carbon markets can shape the future of environmental stewardship.

Analytic number theory and algebraic asymptotic analysis
Elliott, Jesse
World Scientific
, 2025
; English
; 805 Pages
This monograph elucidates and extends many theorems and conjectures in analytic number theory and algebraic asymptotic analysis via the natural notions of degree and logexponential degree. The Riemann hypothesis, for example, is equivalent to the statement that the degree of the function p(x) - li(x) is ½, where p(x) is the prime counting function and li(x) is the logarithmic integral function. Part 1 of the text is a survey of analytic number theory, Part 2 introduces the notion of logexponential degree and uses it to extend results in algebraic asymptotic analysis, and Part 3 applies the results of Part 2 to the various functions that figure most prominently in analytic number theory.Central to the notion of logexponential degree are G H Hardy's logarithmico-exponential functions, which are real functions defined in a neighborhood of 8 that can be built from id, exp, and log using the operations +, ·, /, and °.
Such functions are natural benchmarks for the orders of growth of functions in analytic number theory. The main goal of Part 3 is to express the logexponential degree of various functions in analytic number theory in terms of as few 'logexponential primitives' as possible. The logexponential degree of the function e?pp=x(1-?p) - ?log x, for example, can be expressed in terms of that of p(x) - li(x) and vice versa (where ? ˜ 0.5772 is the Euler-Mascheroni constant), despite the fact that very little is known about the logexponential degree of either function separately, even on condition of the Riemann hypothesis.

The middle-class revolution: a meritocratic strategy for the 21st century
Laszlo Gyorgy, Gyorgy
World Scientific
, 2025
; English
; 225 Pages
A timely and thought-provoking book, The Middle-Class Revolution offers philosophical insights and practical policy guidelines to the greatest challenges faced by our societies: the shrinking middle classes, the growth of the wealth gap and increasing internal conflict.
Drawing from the experience of Hungary between 2011 and 2021, the author presents how the Hungarian government's meritocratic social and economic policies extended the middle class by nearly 20 percent in just one decade - making the country the most successful in the European Union in rolling back poverty during this period. The book concludes by introducing one of the most comprehensive methods currently available for measuring sustainable development of wellbeing: the Harmonic Development Index.
This exclusively data-driven index is unique in its ability to measure sustainability in all of its important aspects: economic, financial, environmental, work- and knowledge-based, social and demographic.Readers will surely find The Middle-Class Revolution a powerful roadmap for building more equitable, resilient and inclusive societies.

Self-similar energies on finitely ramified fractals
Peirone, Roberto
World Scientific
, 2025
; English
; 492 Pages
This monograph delves into the theory of self-similar energies on finitely ramified self-similar fractals.
Using these self-similar energies, one can construct Laplacians, harmonic functions, Brownian motion, and differential equations specific to these fractals. On finitely ramified fractals, self-similar energies are derived from eigenforms - quadratic forms that are eigenvectors of a special nonlinear operator within a finite-dimensional function space.
The monograph also explores conditions for the existence and uniqueness of these self-similar energies and addresses related problems.
For certain cases, complete solutions are provided.Analysis on fractals began to take shape as a mathematical field in the late 1980s.
Traditionally, the focus of analysis has been on finitely ramified fractals - those in which copies intersect at only finitely many points.
To date, a comprehensive theory for infinitely ramified fractals remains elusive.
